Landscape & Visual
Landscape and visual effects are one of the key environmental issues associated with windfarm development.
- Landscape effects relate to the effects of the proposals on the physical and other characteristics of the landscape and its resulting character and quality; and
- Visual effects relate to the effects on views experienced by visual receptors (e.g. residents, footpath users, tourists etc.) and on the visual amenity experienced by those people.
A windfarm would add an additional visible landscape component within the general area. The significance of this will vary according to the distance from which it is observed and the character of the landscape.
A full Landscape and Visual Assessment (LVA) was commissioned over a 20km radius taking into consideration landscape character, landscape designations and main visual receptors. An assessment of the effects to landscape character and visibility, the latter in regard to the main visual receptors, was undertaken. This includes an assessment of impacts to the historic landscape, listed buildings, historic parks and gardens and conservation areas.
Wireline and photomontage visualisations have been produced to give an indication of what the windfarm will look like from various viewpoint locations agreed in consultation with Herefordshire Council. These will be presented within an Environmental Statement submitted with the planning application. Visualisations from various viewpoints are available to see on the interactive map.
